Sadly, this kind of stuff doesn't only happen in Australia. The short-stay rental company that we went through in London was dodgy and washed their hands of our break in. We think they were the ones that broke in. They wanted nothing to do with us because nothing of their's got stolen or damaged. It took 24 hours after the break in to get in contact with them as well! We moved out immediately. There was no way we were staying there anymore and we found out that 2 weeks after we moved out that it got broken into again. When we got broken into we immediately called the police, we have since discovered that police didn't update our record since the day we got broken into despite numerous phone calls, letters etc sent to them about items that went missing (they requested this as well! who knows whose record they were typing all this on while i was on the phone giving them details of it all). We are now hoping that our insurance will come through despite a dodgy police report (and don't even get me started on the long road around trying to get this!)
