sisters-in-law will not walk under clothes on a line. My wife doesn't know why but that is what she was taught. We have had to take down a clothes line so a brother-in-law could cross the yard ! Not feng shui, probably for the same reason that there are (almost) no bridges in Bali (especially walk-ways) as the top of the head is the temple and it is frowned upon to be "taller" than it (temples should be taller than the gutter line on a house), i.e., if you are tall as I am, try to keep a LOW profile at a ceremony. Also, don't touch the top of a Balinese' head (if they are kids or much younger it is OK) as you are dirtying their temple.
