Hi just returned Sunday 5th October. Flew Jetstar both ways and our hand luggage was NOT weighed either way. You are allowed 10kg on international flights. If you are traveling alone they may get you for excess on checked luggage. We had 7 on our booking so they combined our weight and we came in under thankfully, I think only because 2 in our booking were little children so some of their weight was attributed to us saving us excess.
