1st time travel Questions?

im travelling to bali in 1 week! (YAY)for teh first time.
Just a few questions before i travel.
Im think of getting travellers cheques just wondering the best place to cash them in kuta?
How do i purchase kilos on my baggage before i travel?
Also my partner wears alot of gold such as a thick gold chain. Would this cause any trouble/ problems when we are in bali?
