Whatever endorsements he has on his Aus license will go on his International and he has never had a problem and is picked up all the time. Definitely check travel insurance wording.
I ride a 50cc here on my car license, no bike license necessary if under 50cc and am still trying to find out if that ruling would carry over into Indonesia so that if I ride a 50cc over there I'm OK. It's a bit confusing.
