Though it may be too late for you for this trip, is that if they can swim a little, then by the end of the holiday they're much better, for spending so much time in the pool. Our three year old could swim about three strokes and do a 'safety turn' on arrival; after a week she was confidently swimming the width of the pool (with Dad's discreet supervision).
