I've used them for quite a few trips now and they've paid out on several claims. For Bali we've had medical claims and they were paid no question. My understanding of the policy (& I may have interpreted it wrong) was that they covered any medical costs related to an incident but no travel reimbursement costs. The current warning states to 'reconsider need to travel' not DO NOT TRAVEL so I would have thought it ok (I certainly hope so as I've currently used them for trips booked to Phuket and Bali in March 09).

I certainly can't fault TID. They paid out a claim of mine in May for over $3000. Due to the closure of Perth International for 12hrs we missed our cruise out of Singapore and then associated costs with additional hotels etc. We had not expected them to pay as the closure was due to 'a suspicious package' thought to maybe be a bomb. I made the mistake of telling them this on the phone that night (never use the words bomb threat to your insurance company!!!). They immediately backed away from their original 'no worry's about the claim' to 'this is probably not going to be paid'. The wording is they 'will not pay on any claim arising from an act or threat of terrorism'. It could be interpreted that the package was thought to be a threat as they originally suspected there might be a bomb inside.
I sent in a very detailed claim and to my surprise they paid it out a month later with no hassle whatsoever other than asking for a piece of documentation from the cruise co.

I will be very interested to hear if you speak to them (they're always really helpful on the phone) as I had assumed from what I'd read that we were covered for any medical costs. If not, I'd better look around for something else. Good luck!
