the Bali-Sydney leg on Garuda (no problem with Duty-free... just pick it up in the departure lounge) and the Australian leg on Virgin, we had our Bali-bought-and-SEALED Duty-free removed from us at Sydney Domestic by airport-security (the first X-ray station) as it was not allowed as hand luggage - more than 100mls !!! The airlines seem to have no say, it is airport security who remove it.
Needs to be in stow luggage.
