Experience using FedEx?

Has anyone used FedEx for sending items of value from Bali to Oz? FedEx here in Oz say that it's fool proof. The person who is to send a small valuable item to me from Bali says she has had problems with FedEx. I have been told that FedEx will collect the item, package it & deliver it to me here for A$80 (approx) with US$500 insurance (inadequate but better than nothing). I will reimburse the cost to the sender if I get what is promised.

Any and all advice/info much appreciated.
