Is that the paths in Bali are hard enough to walk around on at the best of times and on the 'best of paths'. Hopping around on crutches with a half cast will mean he will have limits and won't be venturing too far, and it will have an impact on his holiday...He won't be able to swim, so even lazing by the pool with a drink will be hot and uncomfortable for him

I had an operation on my leg (upper ankle) in February this year as I had a very bad break and this resulted in 8 screws and a metal plate. Unfortunately the operation occured three days prior to when I was meant to fly to Bali with a friend for a holiday. Obviously I cancelled. I delayed our trip and returned in mid May, with no cast and still swelling in my ankle, I got by fine when I was there but didn't walk for miles like I normally do.

Obviously mine was a much worse break than his, and I think 6 months is a bit too much (like one doctor suggested).

My ankle and leg are completely back to normal now (no swelling and I can run, dance and do everything I did before the accident)and I returned from a month holiday at bali 4 weeks ago.

I definately would not have liked to have been on holiday with a cast on. Another thing to consider is that there is a risk of blood clotting when travelling on planes when you have a cast on.
