Can someone please help!
I have been asked by an Aussie friend to take over two bottles of rum to a friend of his who lives in Bali.
I have got in touch with customs in Australia who were not really much help at all as they just directed me to an internet site that I had already been on and didn't really understand.
I have also been onto the site for indonesian customs, which says that between my husband and I, we are allowed to bring in the two bottles of alcohol and 250 cigarettes.
We are first time travellers and we are totally new to the whole thing.
If someone could please explain how this works...... then it would be greatly appreciated.
I am planning to pre pay for my alcohol and cigs at Sydney Airport for collection on the way home. I would like to know if I can buy the rum at duty free to take over with me to Bali, and will I have a chance to put the bottles into my check in luggage before the flight? Am I allowed to carry on the rum as it is sealed and purchased from the duty free? And one last question......What is going to happen when I get to Bali with two bottles of rum? will they take it off me or smash it?
I am so totally confused by the whole customs and allowances thing!!!!
Would I be better to buy the rum at home first, pack it into my suitcase, and then declair it when I get there?
I would really like to do this favour for my friend, but it is doing my head in trying to work it out!
Has anyone else been in this situation before, and any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Sharon
