it's good that you have been asking your specifc questions to the insurance companies.Like most people I also don't really trust them completely. I get the impression that they aren't really comfortable or happy when people ask very clear questions & wish to be fully informed. You provided some very interesting information & I will probably look into some of it further myself.

I loved your comment about being told you are covered for anything - until you ask specific questions. That is so like insurance companies.
I would also like to know exactly what they consider is a licensed motorbike rental agency in Bali.Might be worthwhile to follow up & get their description in writing,if they would be prepared to share it.

I would like to think that they meant a company that had a shop front & was in the actual business of renting motorbikes & issued recipts. Then again sometimes our ideas as ordinary people don't fit in with what they think <VBG> or what suits then at the particular times someone wishes to make a claim.

Since I am not 100% sure what their exact idea of a licenced motorbike company I can only say that we usually hire from a small motor bike hire shop in Jalan Padma Utara.I think it's called Sari Bunga Wani or something similar.

It is on the opposite side of the road to the MBR but a tad closer to Kuta. It's in a small block of shops that is set back a little from the road & they have a car park in which all the motorbikes are parked. It is next door to Bamboo corner restaurant & a tad North past 3 Brothers Lane & the dog leg in the road.In the past if we have hired a bike over 3 or 4 days we have paid 25,000 per day & been happy with this but as with everything I expect the price has gone up.

I agree with & what you say about taking out insurance from the bike hire places in Bali & what would probably happen with the $500US excess. We have been told by expat friends that it costs peanuts to get dings & dents fixed in Bali.
Thanks for sharing everything you fond out.
