you say that "it is the last part of our accommodation" why then would they be wanting the money up front. I would wait until you are actually at that point in your holiday when you will be using the accommodation booked and get them to accept the money from you once you arrive at the hotel and check with the reception to see if you actually have a booking.
if they don't like it, I wouldn't bother with them as there is always accommodation around.
