We have been getting our girls hair braided for years. We have experienced one time with sunburn and then learnt to sunscreen the gaps between the braids which work a treat. When we shop they wear a cap as the sun can get very hot after a few hours shopping in the markets. When our kids were little we used to buy a swim sunhat for the pool from home made in the same material as bathers but they refuse to swim with hats now and sunscreen is just fine.
We have had the girls hair braided on the beach at legian before and it was just fine. My girls like to specify the bead colour they like while we are bargaining and how many beads they want on each strand as they dont like the rainbow look.
We normally barter to 50,000 rp per head with the intent that they do a good job and we will return on our last day to get it done again. My hubby always gives the girls more money than we originally agree on and the girls normally end up getting their nails done too.
Have a great holiday, its so much easier to look after their hair when braided, gives us mums a holiday from the daily hairdo. Dont be surprised when you take the braids out that she loses a heap of hair as when you take it out you end up with 2 weeks of natural hairloss in one morning. Its a lot of hair.
Have a great time your daughter will love bali and the shopping as well.
