sorry but not a furfie, my laptop on continually in my home for 2 yrs on mains power, until one day it died. Toshiba sattelite computer. Not a cheap one I may add. Went to check out batteries at Dick Smiths and they told me only available from Toshiba min cost 500 dollars. Decided to check out new laptops and salesman told me if running from electricity point for long periods of time to remove battery from back of laptop.I have done this and keep my battery for use whilst travelling. My old laptop still goes when I run straight from power outlet, now I HAVE TAKEN OUT THE OLD bATTERY. Incidentaly salesman that advised me to take out new battery had no knowledge of what happened prior on my old laptop, so I guess this advise has to be for a reason. Batteries have a life span.
