i was traveling in remote parts of south east asia, so i cant be sure where the malaria came from. i can take a guess, but it wouldnt be fair to say 100%.
doctors only go by what they get from WHO as far as i can tell.
for bali, i wouldnt tend to take anti malarials, but for other parts of the country, i would consider it, but it does depend on the kind of places i planned on visiting and what kind of accommodation i was staying in. by saying that, i mean if i were to be staying in remote local communities and living a local life, yes, i would consider taking anti malarials. if staying in high end hotels and frequenting touristy places on the 'upper end', i would not consider it so seriously.
every time i return to australia, my doctor tells me i should come 'back to civilisation' but as i have not had a bout for a couple of years now i think i am ok.
