I have not had problems before but if you are really worried ask
for the hotel bank details and do a funds transfer into there account,
fax a copy of the tranfer receipt and ask them to fax back a confirmation of payment to make sure you dont arrive on the day and
deny a deposit has been paid. it really not to hard to deal with!
