So do every young kids. Give a used Billabong T-shirt( but still in good condition ) to a great-grandchildren of Hong Kong or Australian tycoon of the same age, you'll get the same light-up faces. The difference is that the latter would unlikely became a beggar or chances to be like that are small.Yes, of course.
Let me tell you about what I've seen : Sometimes ago when I was in Bali, I stayed at Kuta-Paradiso, a hotel in a touristy area of Kartika plaza street. On Sunday morning at 7 AM I stood in front of the hotel watching pedestrians moved on. Then suddenly, I saw about 7-10 kids all dressing school uniforms, marching along the street with books and ballpoints+rulers on their hands.
I was pretty sure they were not going to the school, because schools in Bali were closed on Sunday.
There were 2 probabilities which explained why they brought on such an action:
First, I saw through your spectacle: Oh maybe they'd show their gratitude to all the tourists who stayed at many hotels there, who had given them all those stuff.
Second, this is just business as usual. The man behind them organized this procession to attract more tourists or reminded them to visit orphanages and gave them more.
Hopefully, you take the second point into your consideration.
Now about giving 50.000 bill to that woman on the street. Do you know what happened in the days after you gave them money ? The crossroad were clogged by beggars. Many more to come.
And don't you know that giving money to the beggar on the street is against the law in bali ?
