yes--------our domestic and international are separate,no shuttle that i know of and about 10mins or so in cab.Not sure what time Qantas depart but if early morning my suggestion would be to fly in the night before and stay at one of the motels not far from airport.
As to the duty free---------after you go airside large duty free store there.We buy 1 to take and 4 to pick up on return.
