Make sure you have them 2 months before you want to travel. I went to get Hep A and B and was told they would start working when I got home. Hep A, B and typhoid are recommended. Never had any previously but my daughter went to see the Travel Doctor who put the fear of god into her with horror stories. I suppose not having them is as naive as not having insurance.
