Found some really interesting information regarding these 2 dances.

You're probably familiar with 'Cak' (pronounced "chok") as it's short for the popular Kecak Dance. Usually performed by 50-75 dances. 'Cak creation' would be a performance about the origins of the Kecak dance and it's development into the modern dance style performed today.

The dance is chanted in complex patterns.

The modern form originated from the Gianyar village of Bedulu in the 1930's as a result commissioned by (wait for it...)- Walter Spies (the artist!).

In the 1970's, the Javanese choreographer , Sardono (sp?) Kusuma worked with a group from Peliatan to create a new type of kecak. This dance was developed further whereby over 100 men sit in created circles and other shapes on the stage, swaying with hands raised, while chanting "cak,cak,cak..."

The Joged dance on the other hand, is an erotic dance (not sure if I'd take my kids to see this one??). Refer to site: http://www.baliblog.com/travel-tips/bali-travel/joged-the-balinese-flirtation-dance.html If you google Joged dance - you may get more than you bargained for :) Cheers. Lisa
