I did some research on the Sofitel and found that the hotel is going to be doing renovations/upgrading and there are many special offers available for their accommodation at the moment. However, this doesn't let people know that the reason the price is good is because what they are offering is not up to the usual standard. If you think you are paying for 5* and it doesn't hold up you are bound to be upset. Well, I would be.
This happened when we booked a special offer at The Villas. However, I was lucky enough to have someone check out the one bedroom accommodation for us before we left home and they told us it was pretty rough. I wrote to the General Manager and we were upgraded to a renovated 3 bed villa. I understand their upgrading is now completed.
