.. friends arrived at the airport to find their flight had been delayed until the next day and were told to return home as accommodation was only provided for out-of-town passengers - this didn't impress my friend who was already in holiday mode and not keen on driving all the way home again (especially with the $ cost of this) so my quick thinking friend told the check in staff this was not possible as they had rented out their house for the duration of their overseas trip so they were then put up in a lovely 4star hotel with meals provided just like the out of towners :-) A good tip to try if this ever happens to anyone!
