No need to go as far as the Bintang supermarket. There is a bank branch in Jl Werkudara opposite the school. It's not a far walk and is totally safe and reputable. There is also another money exchanger next to the Kodak shop on the corner of Jl Padma Utara (the street that runs outside the PR) and Jl Werkudara that is also reliable.
Legian Pub is next to Wayan and Friends in Jl Padma (turn right when you leave the Puri, walk up to the T intersection, turn left and they're about 100m up on the right side).
There are lots of tourist booths on the streets around that area.
