Are you travelling with kids?
The Dynasty Hotel/Resort in Tuban/Kuta is great for families and a favourite hotel for the kids. As there are always plenty of kids there and there are activities each day for the kids. If you are travelling with kids then you have made a very good choice for your first stay at Bali.
If you are travelling with yourself or a partner, the Dynasty hotel is in a good location. You will easily meet others to enjoy a chat with at the pool bar and there is an adults only lazy pool for you to get away from all the kids running around at the main pool area, which can be a bit chaotic, so the lazy pool is a good option to escape this.
There are good restaurants at the Dynasty and the breakfat is great!
Regarding wood, you can bring wooden objects/carvings back from Bali (just mark items to declare (wooden objects) on your arrival card and declare at Australian Airport).
When you are buying wooden objects give them a tap on a hard flat surface and if you see little bits fall onto the surface it means that there are borers in the object, also look for small holes. If you buy something and notice this back at your hotel then give it a good spray with fly spray, and leave it to air before packing in your suitcase and it should be ok.
