We had the excess baggage experience last sept before we even left Melbourne - slugged $150 for the surfboards, event though I was advised by a Jet* representative in July that the boards would be fine. Coming back forked out $300 and upgraded to starclass as items bought and surfboard balanced out to near that upgrade cost, it did give me entry to Premiers Lounge (?)
Lesson learnt - if you go cheap it can still run out to be the same costs as going with other international who provide full service and allow a higher (32kgs) baggage allowance.
We are going back in Sept and flying with Singapore airlines.
