Don't be put off travelling 'no frills' because you have kids, there is not a great deal Qantas or Garuda offer kids that you can't take on board yourself. Just make sure you have a steady supply of food (not too many lollies as they can get wired up).
The quickest is usually the best unless you o/n somewhere, I also find night time flights can be great as kids sleep so less hassle and amusement required on flight. My kids are just a wee bit older than yours but have been travelling regulary since born and I'm often solo on flights with them and we fly whoever has best offer. I always take a toy catalog as this amuses them alot longer than books do.
