We have been refused boarding a flight to Bali from Aust because we didn't have tickets out of Indonesia. We quickly bought the cheapest tickets - Medan-Singapore (that we ended up using eventually) - & were allowed to board - it was a huge hassle, though. Have some legit proof of a valid means of leaving Indonesia. Better to be safe than sorry.
