Hi Anada,

The stone carvings are mostly done in villages in the hills and the people selling the carvings in Bali (these are the middle man) buy direct from the villages and truck from there to Bali.

The shipping containers all leave from Surabaya to Australia and Jogjakarta is close to Serabaya. We have all our container packed in Jogjakarta as we have found this to be the cheapest way.

We used to buy all our stone in Bali but are now buying from Jogjakata and saving quite a bit. The problem is getting good contacts - whether that be in Bali or anywhere else.

If your only buying one or two pieces then buying in Bali isn't such a big deal but we buy 40' containers so every bit cheaper we can buy - we can sell it at a better price - therefore selling more stock and so the merry go round works...........

Hope this helps explain.

cheers
Lyn
