I lost some gear out of my suitcase back in 1997, and ever since have always locked my bags. No problem since.....until I recently bought a new bag/pack that I could only padlock through the zip tags. I flew back on Saturday 15th with Skywest to Broome via Port Hedland. Somewhere along the way the mongrels managed to open my bag wide enough to squeeze a hand in and swipe my sunglasses case. Could have been worse I know, but its a good reminder to keep things secure.
