We are also going to bali in late April and May. I am going to try whot if this time. I have looked at all the online accommodation sites and they seem to be the cheapest.We have also walked in to hotels in the past and tried to bargin. Popular hotels were dearer this way but if you are going off the beaten track much cheaper.
