I was in Lombok three weeks ago and received Rp 3.000,000 against my ANZ Visa card in an over the counter transaction.
I tried to sell $A notes to the Mataram branch of BCA Bank which would have been a fee free transaction. They would only buy $US, so they offered a maximum Mastercard advance of Rp 1,000,000 or a maximum Rp 3.000,000 advance against my ANZ Visa card.
I took the option of an advance of Rp 3.000,000 against my ANZ Visa card. Fees paid were Rp 20,000 to BCA, conversion fee to ANZ of $A9.03, cash advance fee of $A7.41 to ANZ and interest to ANZ of $A1.68.
In summary, to receive the equivalent of $A365.85 in rupiah, I had to pay out $A20.56 or 5.62%.
