I have been informed by a close friend who has been to Bali several times, that you can pay the visa in the Indonesian Embassy of your capital city some time before going and get it stamped sometime before flying. This should avoid any problems with what currency to use at Denpasar. We are going over at christmas and will be doing it this way.
