Yes, there are some monopoly aspects that Jetstar and Garuda enjoy but if demand has increased so much this can only be good for competition and attract eiher more airlines or flights in and out of Bali. Let's face it - it is only a 5-6 hour flight to Bali... who really cares that you cant drink yourself silly for free so as to make an arsehole of yourself on the plane.
I have also flown with Air Paradise when they were gracing our skies and I found that they too were fine (just like garuda and jetstar). And yes we had flights booked with them with they went broke but we were lucky enough to get a refund through a credit card.
I like Garuda and would probably fly with them over Jetstar but all I am saying is thatI don;t see why everyone hates Jetstar so much. To get flights for 2 adults and 1 chil over the busy Easter period for just over $3000 I reckon isn't too bad and WAS a lot cheaper than Garuda.
