My sister-in-law became very ill after we returned from Bali a couple of months ago. Had numerous blood tests - trips to hospital - told it was probably some sort of virus. Tested for dengue fever and various other diseases. Fortunately she had a very persistent GP who, with further blood tests, finally diagnosed Spotted Fever which can be life-threatening if not treated correctly. One catches Spotted Fever from a tick bite - from ticks that we don't have in Australia. After the correct antibiotic she recovered. We were together at all times - I did not get sick - we don't know where she came into contact with that tick. She should have displayed a rash but she didn't - so that confounded the situation moreso. So if your husband is still sick, please ask the doctor about Spotted Fever.
