Have not stayed at either of the properties you have mentioned but have walked thru. Puri Santrian "looks' better, but in my opinion, I think the kids would probably enjoy the area up near the Besakih a little better. I think the beach swimming is a bit nicer, and access to the Sindhu markets and the very social beach atmosphere (lots of cafes beach sports etc), perhaps. Others with kids may be able to comment on this a bit better. We always stay down near the Puri actually, and there just doesnt seem to be as much beach activity.
I ahve done Bali Baik, and one of the best tourist adventures have ever done. Reasonably easy, lots of back up, you can stop any time, and the best best food you will ever eat in Bali at end of ride!
