Been to Penang twice. Once to Batu Ferrengi and the last time to Georgetown. If you want the beach then go to B F. If you just want to chill out then its G/town. We stayed at the Bayview whitch is in a good position. A few pubs around there, food stalls across the road and only about 20 mins stroll from Prangin Mall and Komtar tower. As for food in Penang you will not find anything better at either the food stalls or many of the small cafes plus you can drink the tap water.
