Bill, absolutely NO question that Adelaide or Brisbane could easily carry at least two direct weekly flights to Bali.

The problem is revenue base for the airline. Singapore Airlines has never stooped into the Airfare Wars - rather maintain fare levels that are reasonable yet maintain profitability.

Singaporeans would NEVER consider a loss-making enterprise! Silk Air introduced a 5th flight Singapore/Manado few months back but dropped it as being unprofitable without giving it time to be accepted by wholesalers.

If Adelaide and Brisbane passengers would accept realistic fares rather than constantly look for something lower, then both ports could carry the services. Sadly, if Garuda for example re-introduced flights - particularly from Brisbane as Qantas/Jetstar still seem to see Adelaide as a "backwater" - you could bet that they would out of spite introduce a cut-price war and it would be back to the API days once more.
