We did this tour last year with 6 & 8 year old. Our 6 year old was not great on bikes, but she did really well. It started to rain so we put her in the support vehicle (which I must say is not just for kids). The staff were wonderful and really supportive of the kids. Our 8 year old who we always thought of as lazy was out in front the whole way and thoroghly enjoyed it. The bikes are not brand new, but the brakes work as do the gears. They had smaller bikes for the kids and helmets for everyone.
The views were amazing and they stopped regularly to give explanations or allow you to stop and take photos. As we rode along through the villages the children all came out and waved and gave us high fives. We loved it.
The food at the end of tour was delicious and an honor to be allowed in organisers home. His wife cooks it all and is very traditional. You may need to introduce children to Indonesian food before trip if they have not already had some.
We found there to be very little traffic and are going back again this year.
