We were married in Bali when we were living there in 1983 (both Australians).

Did all the stuff at the Consulate ... got legally married at the Catitan Sipil (Registry Office) in Denpasar. Had a traditional wedding that evening - best day of our lives.

On our eventual return to Australia I took our Indonesian Marriage Certificate to the Dept Foreign Affairs & had an Official Translation done. I have the Translation attached to out Indonesian Marriage Cert & this is all we have ever needed to establish our state of wedded bliss.

Instead of having someone from the Consulate attend this may be all you need to do.
