probably scanned at some stage in its journey but I dont believe that every piece of luggage coming into Denpasar is xrayed. There is currently an investigation occurring in Australia in response to revelations that luggage coming into most Australian airports is not routinely screened. For the crosses to appear as you believe, there would have to be a process where every piece of luggage is run through an xray machine with a person sitting at the screen going carefully over every item in every bag. How long to you think that would take? And in answer to the first timers question. I was suggesting that brand new luggage may be an indication of an inexperienced traveller.
