Hi,
Legian is a great area for your first time. Close to some great eats, shops and day spas. There is a nice wave along the beach, hubby found in front of the Mandira and Niksoma were the best breaks. Will depend on tides. Puri Raja, Melasti are some of the many accomodations on the beach, depends on budget. We are in our 40's with longboards in tow. We are back in June/July this year, we have found the waves to be at their best that time of year.
