1st trip to bali

my wife and i and our 2 friends want to enjoy 10 days in bali mid august ; partly for shopping and sightseeing but us boys are looking for some nice waves ( longboards ) and would like some suggestions on the best area to stay . we thought legian would be good ; somewhere on the beach; but look forward to some clues on accomodation and beach breaks.We are all in our 40's
