There was an article in the Jakarta Post yesterday talking about measures to increase tourist numbers from 5.5m in 2007 to 7m in 2008. Follow this link to the article:

In the article it was stated that the Ministry of Tourism and Culture is working on a proposal to issue free visa for short stays for citizens of Japan, Australia, South Korea, China, UK, Germany, France, Netherlands, Russia and India.
One problem that I can forsee if this proposal is passed, is that it will reduce by a quarter the number of questions posted on this forum. Imagine this forum without questions about VOA queues, VOA and credit cards, US$ versus A$ and correct change etc etc.
