We recommend Sept/Oct weather-wise, less humid than wet season and higher chance of lovely sunny skies.
We fly Qantas from Perth and no problems, except they still have not increased their scheduled flights above the twice per week at the moment. Also the return flight necessitates a very late check-out because departure is around midnight or 1.00am in the morning and you get home at an ungodly hour. But if you are prepared to be flexible about dates and work around the Q schedule, then fly with them.
Also note that the end of Ramadan is due around 1-3 Oct 2008, so I understand that Bali can get vry busy with Indo holiday-makers from other islands. So Kuta could be busier with traffic early in the month.
