Met a couple from Australia in Bali last year. He is an aussie & she Indonesian. They travelled without insurance & she was about seven months pregnant. She gave birth soon after arrival and the hospital could not do anything to improve bubs low chance of survival. Unfortunately when I left they were waiting for it to take its last breathe. In Australia bubs definitely would have had an excellent chance of survival but it was going to cost at least $60,000 for a medical evacuation which they could not afford. I dont know what the outcome was but prayed for a miracle.
Dont risk a life for a couple of hundred dollars. Factor it in as a neccesity when budgeting for your holiday & a lot of heartbreak can be avoided.
