is a big city,very big,not like bali in any shape or form lol and big cities are by and large pretty similar to each other.Saying that i have been to jakarta 2 or 3 times and while it wouldnt suit everyone i enjoyed it and I love bangkok,another big city,but strangely enough im not really a city person.
My recomendation also would be to try jogja which while being a city isnt the high rise wilderness that some cities are and plenty of places to get to easily outside the city boundaries.
