Last July, a young friend took this old dadaong to Petulu on the back of his motorbike late one afternoon and we were lucky enough to see wave upon wave of Kokokan sweeping in to roost in the trees. Maybe it is a "seasonal" thing, but could also be all in the luck of the draw. One of my loveliest memories I have was the ride a bit further up the road just on dusk, with a perfect reflection of Gunung Agung in the padi, and Kawi chant floating on the air from a nearby temple - aaahhhh tranquility and peace of an unearthly kind!
