Where you are staying is great as it is really central to everything. One thing I would higly recommend is a day trip called Bali Budaya Cycling tours. I am your absolute lay by the pool and read a book kind of person so when my husband talked me into this I was a bit dubious. I have been going to Bali every year for 15 years and this was the BEST day out I have had. You will be picked up from your hotel at 7.30am and driven to the volcano for breakfast and an explaination of the volcano. Then you drive a bit further and look at rice terraces before getting on bikes and riding DOWN HILL YAY for the rest of the day. The tiur is different everytime as Dewa the guide will ask you what you want to see. We stopped at a villiage where they weave bamboo, a carver, went througha family compound and saw how people live and were invited to a cremation by some local villages (ew politely said no). I founf it to be a very relaxing day and I learnt so much about Bali. The ages of people ranged from 8 to 40 and there were only 8 of us on the tour. Ther number is 975 557 and it costs 360,000 per person. They have heaps of food and water and you stop to look at things regularly so you dont work up a sweat. There is an uphill bit at the end where they give you the option of getting back on the support bus (it follows you all day and you can get on at any time) I started to do the uphill and then flagged down the bus......

Bali Botanical is the best day spa I have been to in Bali and is in Ubud.Get a driver ( I recommend Ray and his mobile is +62 8133 864 9525) he will drive you short or long distances and if he is busy he will get someone to take you. You cant walk to spa as it is on main road near Mozaic Reatuarant ( worth eating at if you want an experience but at Melbourne prices) Get to spa early enough to enjoy a juice in the garden. Cant find their phone number sorry but I know they have a web site. Walking distance from your hotel is Zen day spa which we go to heaps for a good massage and VERY cheap prices. They are very good but it is getting so busy there that it is not as tranqil as it used to be. Nice to sit upstairs and have a hair mask and pdeicure. Go in the day as the mozzies are nuts here at night.
en 970 976 Jalan Hanonman next to barandi restaurant. make a booking!
