We have stayed in Legian for the last 4 years and our kids are now 16 and 13.Personally I LOVE Legian as its much quieter than Tuban/Kuta and yet its not far to get to Waterbom etc if you need to.The restaurants are awesome in Legian/Seminyak and the shopping is a little more varied and not as pressured as Tuban way.
We have stayed in different hotels along Jln Padma Utara ( Melasti x 2, Puri Raja x 2, and Kumala Pantai and they are all in brilliant spots I think.The Jayakarta is in between the Kumala Pantai and the Puri so I think its a great spot.Loads of really good restaurants nearby and relaxed shopping for clothes, jewellery and DVD's just across the road !!
